Education
Dr. Zeidan’s interests in biomedical sciences began in the mid-sixties when he was an undergraduate student in biochemistry at Cairo University. Dr. Zeidan received his Ph.D in Biomedical Sciences at The University of Hawaii, School of Medicine in 1979. He did his postdoctoral training in Medicinal chemistry and Pharmacognosy at the Medical Center of The University of Illinois, School of Pharmacy.
Teaching Experience
Dr. Zeidan then joined the University of Michigan, the clinical chemistry division at Cleveland State University,as an assistant Professor of physiological chemistry and Clinical Chemistry. He then joined the biomedical faculty of Atlanta University Graduate School. He served as a major Professor for seven graduate students. Two received a Ph.D in Biochemistry under his mentorship. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 1988. In 1991, he moved to Life University, Basic Sciences Division and was promoted to Professor in 1996.
He was known among his students as a talented professor with a chess game approach and was awarded a “Ph.T” (putting him or her through) degree by numerous Professional students. In 2003, Dr. Zeidan accepted a Position as Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at University of Southern Nevada College of Pharmacy, and in 2008, he accepted a position as Visiting Professor of Pharmacology at International American University, School of Medicine
Dr. Zeidan held positions as Visiting Professor in Biomedical Sciences, St. Matthew School of Medicine, Professor of Pharmacology, International American University, School of Medicine, Visiting Professor, University of Texas, Kuwait University, and Professor of Biomedical Sciences at St. Christopher’s School of Medicine, Greenwich University, Graduate School of Health Sciences.
At Greenwich University, he served as a major Professor of four graduate students who obtained their Ph.D in Preventive Medicine, health care and Human Physiology. He served as an Educational Mentor at Creighton University, School of Pharmacy, Pharm D Program, Medical educator, Consultant and Professor of Pharmacology for International American University, School of Medicine, invited scholar and consultant to King Abdul Aziz City of Science and Technology.
Recognitions and Contributions
He received recognitions as outstanding teacher, Smith Kline & French Laboratories faculty award for outstanding faculty and Fulbright Scholar. He acted as a consultant to Cairo University, National Research Center, Cairo and Kuwait University. Dr. Zeidan acted as a clinical Laboratory Director to several Reference Laboratories. Dr. Zeidan is a reviewer for J. Nutrition Research, J of Molecular and cellular biochemistry, Elsiever Publishers, Abstract, brown bag and symposium reviewer for American Association for Clinical Chemistry. Henry is a Fellow of National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry, Diplomat of American Board of Bioanalysis, and a Fellow of the Association of Clinical Scientists, Diplomat of American Association of Bioanalysis.
Dr. Zeidan received numerous invitations as a visiting speaker and chairman of divisions for several international conferences. He was elected as a chairman of Endemic diseases for the first international conference of Medical Research in Cairo. Dr. Zeidan have written articles in nutrition news letters. Dr. Zeidan joined the nutrition division in 2006 as Treasury and Chairman of Education Committee. Dr. Zeidan has numerous publications including three textbooks and laboratory manual. His major research focused on the application of Spin Labels in Biomedicine, clinical research and Pharmacology, the molecular mechanisms of biogenic amines degradation and Sickle hemoglobin.
Henry enjoys spending his leisure time with his dedicated wife and lovely five sons and daughters. He enjoys playing tennis, swimming and traveling.
